Good Morning All,

So Saturday when my son was sleeping, I took the opportunity and pulled my layout out of the garage and give it a proper clean. Layout have not been switched on in almost 10 months  :(

I also cut the facia for the road from module to module.
And I also drilled the holes and fitted the fixing pins to connect the two modules together.

Last night I tighten the bolts and it looks like it will work well.
Next step is to lay the track and make sure it does not move.

I also ran some trains last night  So cool, switched it all on and everything is prefect.
Such a good feeling.

Here is some pictures, enjoy.

pic 02 - existing layout with road
pic 03 - pins and bolts
pic 04 & 05 fitted together

Regards,
Evert.

Good Morning All,

Did a little bit more work.
I glued 2 solid wooden blocks into each module so that I can fit the track so that it will not move when I cut it.
Also sanded them smooth just to make 100% sure everything is level.

I also received my Control Panel, so I could also start.
I still have to buy all the electrical components, but it will come  :thumb:

Cheers and speak again soon.
Cheers,
Evert.

Craft paint, toothpaste, paint brush and coffee mug, looks interesting.  ;)
Tell us a bit how you do the lettering, looks like the writing is engraved into the Perspex?

LOL

OK, I took the perspex to a laser cutting place and they did the engraving and cutting for me yes. (R350)  :thumb:
When I got it back the perspex was quite dirty around the cutting edge. To difficult to capture on a picture.
I used tooth paste in circular motions to polish the perspex. Wax on Wax off  Only around the lettering. Use a microfiber cloth.
Then I used the black craft paint (water-base) to paint the text black. (or any colour you want)
Once the paint was 100% dry I once again use the dry clean microfiber cloth and wiped off the excess paint. Because the perspex is smooth and glossy the paint does not stick permanently to it, so it can be removed.

Cheers,
Evert

Thanks for the explanation on how you do it.
Looks great. :thumb:
Don't loose the contact details of the laser engraving company, I might just need that one day as well.
On Wolfgang's panels I did the lettering with Letraset rub on letters and sealed them with some 3M clear tape.

I was also thinking of that, but to get letraset now a days...... But we must use technology

Here is the details, then it won't get lost.

Good Morning All,

Very small update, but I still spent 30min plus to lay the track perfectly.
I layed the connecting piece between the two layouts.

First coated the wooden blocks with ipoxy.
Then I fitted the track and pinned it in place. Now it is 48 hours of drying time and then I can cut the track and see if my attempt is working.

Hope you all have a great weekend.
Cheers,
Evert

Good Morning All,

It's been a while, but have been busy with the Town module for the show and I have taken up servicing and fixing trains, so it keeps me busy.
But no complaints, as I actually like doing this.

OK, so last night I took some time out and worked a little bit on my Yard module.
Connection track is in and working really well. (Atlas Set Track)

So, the road from the town is going up the hill to the Castle and past towards the factories and all the railway services.
The first section is in and I filled in all the gaps with create stone.

Next step is to start the painting of this section and then I will move on to the castle.
Casted some nice rock also, so will build a nice rock face on the town side of the Castle, might just do that before I start to paint, will see.

Here is some pictures, very difficult to show the heights as nothing have colour, but I tried.

Cheers and speak again.
