Hi everybody,
some time ago I read an article in a German modeling magazine where somebody
modified a servo for continuous rotation.
I remembered this last night and promptly bought myself two servos at Clowns Hobbies today.
Of course I have already dismantled the one.
The little plastic gear stop has to be removed.
Red arrow in the first photo.
Second photo shows the gear removed with the offending nipple still in place.
Third photo shows the little motor.
Last photo the red arrow points at the potentiometer that also needs to be removed.

Hi everybody,
I had my thinking cap on again and came up with some ideas.
I did not like how Faller had prepared the crane to be able to turn via the Faller motor.
The motor sits in the frame and via a small gear that engaged with the operators cap it can be made to turn.
This means an unsightly motor in the frame.
Why don't I try and have the motor, now servo in the cap.
Photo one shows the original set up with the small gear that would normally pro-dude from the hole above the center hole which is the swivel point.
Photo two shows my current idea.

Of course this means I will now have two servos in the cap, plus a decoder.
But it actually makes it a bit easier to connect everything up as I only need to power connections to the cap.
First photo shows my current idea how to mount the winch servo under the roof.
Second photo is how I built my pulley complete with a slip clutch.
I can still place a fiber washer in between to get a bit less slip. But it works.  :thumb:

Hi everybody,
a bit of progress.
The first servo is now in the cap working the winch.
Currently just works of a 5 V power supply, but this is just to check.
So the coal shovel can now be lifted and lowered.  :thumb:
First photo shows this set up.
Next up to turn the cap.
Its going to be quite full in there with two servos and electronics.
In my last post I showed the photo with the new gear.
Well now its fitted.
Cut a thin styrene spacer to lift is slightly allowing the small gear to engage a bit better.
Calculated my center spacing for the small gear and drilled the hole.
Currently I am just using a M 2 bolt as the axle to try, this will be changed.
