Friends on the big day.

Aha! The usual suspects... And a new face I spotted at the Train Fair.
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be

That new face was only here for one week from Germany.
He did live in Cape Town for 5 years some time ago and did build a layout while here.
You might have met him at Wolfgang's place in the past.

Nope, never met him. Only saw him at the show. Heard a lot about him.

It seems that the plywood I bought is still alive.  ;)
Sprouted a branch overnight.  :P

Got some more done today.
Glued down the cork underlay and a bit more track.
Two tracks going up and the middle one down.

Started marking out some more baseboards tonight, will try and cut tomorrow.
Note the string circle for marking the curves. Simple but effective.

Last, but not least, had to check for clearances with the biggest Loco that I have.
What a machine, no problems with clearance anywhere.  :thumb:

Cheers.

Wanted to do some work on the layout on Sunday, so I sent the wife to work  >:D and had a productive day working on the layout.  ;)
Cut a few pieces of wood, just loosely clamped in place to check for clearance.
Fits.  :thumb:

Take note that I used an electric with fully extended panto's.

Next was to complete track running off the layout used to connect the displays.

From these 2 photo's you should get the idea what I'm trying to do.
Had to take a decent sized block of wood and route a square hole into it so that I can slide the display in and connect to the track.
Checking for fit and marking for cutting.

Finished, and it works.  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Still needs a bit of fine tuning, but I have been able to easily drive complete trains on and off the layout.
