Some more.
So the next few days or better evenings I will join the boards together properly and also screw some 22x44
pine battens to the underside for strength.
Then get some cork sheeting and glue that on.
Stay tuned. :thumb:

Thanks everybody.
No physical work done today, but spent some time this evening working out the signal placing on the plans.
Got 15 block signal in which I will be able to set to automatic for a working block system.  :thumb:
Should be able to run six or more trains at once.  ;)

Ed I'm using 9 mm and found the best price at Penny Pinchers in Brackenfell.
R. 253,16 ea.
If you want 12mm ply the price goes up to something like R. 450.00 each.

Tonight and last night busy with the 22x44 pine battens under the boards.

Tonight also I had the first piece of rolling stock on the board.
As you can see in the pic I'm using M8 threaded rod to mount the second layer so I need to drill the holes now before laying the track.
Had to check for clearance with my longest coach.
Perfect.  :thumb:

Nice!

Be warned - to keep progress up remove all rolling stock off layout. Otherwise you'll be playing more than working...
