Also started with the first ramps, centre one goes down the two outer ones go up.

Checking the gradient. 2%  :)

Very nice Jörg! :thumb:

In a few years, when the Model Train Convention comes to Cape Town, your layout can be included...
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be

Hi everybody,
yesterday was the big day, friends over for a nice braai and the official first track laid. :thumb:
There was a photo of that moment taken, but not on my camera so I can't show the photo as the owner of that camera has not yet emailed me the photo.  :stir:
So last night after everybody went home I did some more work and at 8:30 I could test run the first train.
Today lots more work and this is what it looks like now.

The first Loco that had the honour of being on my layout is my Danish Diesel, I got this unit when I was 2 years old, converted to digital a few years ago and she still runs well.
The 2 oil tankers are my latest coaches, only received them on Friday.
Specially produced by Märklin for the Stummi Forum in Germany. Only 249 of each one made. So very rare.

Finally I can watch a few trains running.  :thumb:
Of course its for testing purposes only.  O:-)

I case you are wondering what those white spots are on track, its prestic which I am using to secure the copper wire while the glue dries.
Close up of the Peco flextrack with the copper wire for the pick up shoes.

Where ever I want the train to stop I just simply drill a hole through the base board and put the copper wire through it so I can connect track power as needed.
Black triangle means interrupted centre stud and red arrow is a power feed.

My Roco Class 012 oil burner stretching her legs a bit.

German push/pull commuter train, when I visited Germany a few years ago I watched this exact combination of Loco and coaches in the Station of Sinsheim. I had to put a train together just like it.

As the original Loco from Märklin does not have red lights I had to drill out the dummy lights and fit small red Led's.
