Good Morning All.....

Mmmmmmm...... Who knows  :innocent:, maybe I might just bring it along

So last night I glued down the track, what a mission and I have to fill one or two places where things did not line up so nicely, but it is OK.
I'll do a test run again tonight.

Cheers,
Evert.

A work in progress. You can work on the layout during the show, that should attract lots of people.

Good Morning All,

Hope everybody had a great weekend, I certainly did. We went away to Hermanus again and it was awesome.
Did some Whale watching, walk along to coast and just relax with the family.

And my wife allowed me to take the z scale layout with

So, I made awesome progress.....
Friday after work I finished all the electrical work for the Track and the points, up to the connector block that will take the power to the control panel. (this I still have to build)

Here is picture for that.
Rest will follow.....

Then on Saturday Morning we load the car and we hit the road for Hermanus.
Got there, unpacked and just relaxed.

I worked a little bit on the layout when I have time or felt like it.....

I covered the mountain with creatstone and cloth as well as some stones.
Then I painted the rocks with watery black paint a few times and then with a dark grey and then highlights with a light grey (almost white).
Then my earth brown colour.
It was quite cold in Hermanus so things took much longer to dry than usual, but there was no rush.

Then I applied the WoodlandScenics Green Mix for the grass and added some weeds and earth blend to create some detail.

I kept the top of the mountain to be removable, so just before the creatstone was fully set I lifted it from the layout so that it created a natural break line.
I fitted it all together when I finished the grass to hide the split, worked quite well.

So the last thing I did was to ballast a small section of the track to see if it would work.
I think it looks great and the locomotive or the power flow do not have any problems with it.

Friend was visiting the Model Train Shop in Plumstead so I asked him to get me some pine trees.

That was my weekend   :thumb:

Good Morning All,

Very small update from me, but I think it is a awesome one
I poured the lake last night  :howzit: WHooooooHooooo.....
I'm really happy with the way it came out.

I used 2 part resin again with a tiny drop of Humbrol paint to give it some colour. (paints is still from my grandfarther)

Tonight I'll build the waterfall as well as the ripples for the river and on the edges of the lake

Cheers and hope you all have a awesome day.
Evert.

Good Morning All,

So after a few small setbacks I have finished the river and the lake.
For some wierd reason the resin did not cure with a gloss  so I added the Woodland Scenics Water Effects everyware to create the ripples.
I have to say, I'm extremely happy with the look.

Enjoy the Picture
Cheers, Evert

Now, the next big challenge was to do snow on the mountain.....

I want to do something different so the idea was to add snow to the top of the mountain.
WoodlandScenics have a snow product, but to buy a big amount at the big expense !!!!! No......

So I thought about white Powder paint. If I wet the area with some water and the sprinkle the paint over and then whet it again to set it all...... Mmmmmmm, Awesome idea, but will it work.

I took a nasal spray wit water and spray on a test rock. Then with a fine tee strainer I gently sprinkled some dry white powder paint over the whet area. Then I mist it again with water.
It worked quite well so I tried it on the mountain. I did about 3 or 4 layers of water, paint, water, paint......

WOW  :thumb: I love it......

Here is a few pictures. (have to see it in real life)
Cheers,
Evert.
