Good Morning All,

I decided to take a bit of a break from fixing trains and worked a bit on my own layout
I wand to add a fence between the Yard and the main line, so I got some netting from way back when and decided to use that.
Yes, I know it is a bit over sized, but certain things have to be that way.
The material is grey at the moment. I can paint it silver or black? What do you guys think?
Personally I think the silver will work and if I weather it with some rust it should look quite good.

Before I can fit the fence I need to do ground cover, so the track needs to be 100%.
I the future I'm planning a Container yard with a dock of about 450mm x 1000mm in size and about 5 rails.
I have a 2x track overhead container crane as well as a fork lift. The ship I will have to scratch build.

So with that in mind I made some changes over the weekend.
Point and crossing fitted and wired up. Works quite well. Still have to tweak the track slightly, but generally it does work.

Thank you and speak again soon.
Regards,
Evert

Hi Evert,
I like that Rio Grande diesel.  :thumb:
Yes that fence is a bit over scaled for N, dull silver with lots of rust should look good.
Remember to plan in some extra tracks for the U extension. >:D

Thank you Jörg :thumb:
LOL  I will be able to remove the container section, so then one day when I have lots of space I will be able to do "U" shape.....

Good Morning All,

I also had some time this weekend to work a little bit on my own layout.....
So, I finished the facia, still have to paint it.
Then I have also finished and fitted all the point motors for the yard. 25 of them  :innocent:
Still have to wire them all up, but the fitment and testing is done.

Then I decided to paint and add the ground cover for the fence between the Yard and the main line.
Was good to do some scenery work again.....

Next step is the fence.....

Right, so last night I decided to see if I can start with the fence.

Got some 1mm wire for the poles and 0.5mm for the bracing.
Then I cut the mesh 1 block shorter and I decided on a length between the poles that looks OK for the height.

So, 3hours later I managed to fit and painted a few sections of fence.

This is gong to take very long time to build, but it's OK......
I like it and I think it will look good once I have added some bushes and the trains run past.

Regards and speak again Cheers,
Evert

Hi Evert,
that fence is looking very nice, how high is it?
Place a figure next to it, I have a feeling that its a bit to high, but maybe I just seems like that
on the photo.

Hi Jörg, the fence is roughly about 13mm - about 2m in real life.
The fence at my Wifes parents place is 2.1m high. Looks the same as what I model except the wire is black.

I'm still going to add some track side detail, so it should blend in nicely. Want to add a small tree or two, but not sure if there will be space for that.

Scale 2 meters is fine.  :thumb:
Then it just seems like that to me on the photo.
Some bushes and other details will blend it in nicely.

Good Morning All,

Working all over my layout, but I thought I want to get the road done.
I need to build a road from the town all the way past the yard to the factory. Pic01 (paintbrush and sticks represents the road)

This means I need a crossing to cross 5 track sections  ??? Pic02
I saw a video of how Ken Patterson did it on his layout, so I thought why not.
So I mixed up some creet stone, White Glue and grey paint and poured it on.

Then once it was dry I sanded it flat and cut the groove for the wheel flanges with the Dremel.

Loads of work, but I think it will look awesome once completed and it does work. Train runs across quite nicely.

Hope you all have a great day.
Regards,
Evert

I have seen somebody in a German magazine do it in a similar way,
except that he first glued very fine styrene strips next to the rails before he poured
the plaster so that he had the flange clearances straight away.

I was thinking about that, but I was scared that it would be stuck there.
To dremmel the groove is not to difficult, it just take time.

Good Morning All.....

Small update from the LooVille Yard
I finished sanding cut and painted the crossing, think it looks quite good.
I have also tested quite a few trains over the crossing and it works well  :thumb: So I'm happy.

Then I fitted all the cobble stones around the factory and blended everything together with dirt, grass and sand.

Next I think I will work on blending the sand house into the scene, still have to fit the sand tower.
Then I can add all the sand around the sanding area..... ash for the ash pit.... and then ballast.
Finally a few bushes and some more dirt and weathering.

Hope you all have a awesome day and speak again soon.
Regards,
Evert
