Good question... :innocent:

And all you touch and all you see

LOL

I got that layout from a friend. Apparently it came out of the train shop in Cavandish years ago.
I still want to fix it up one day.

Good Morning All,

So we spend the weekend at my parents place, so I did quite a bit of work on my Layout
I built the Faller Gantry Crane as well as the Water standpipe loading gauge locomotive tube cleaner Kit also from Faller.
Was good to built kits again :)

I fitted them to the layout and I also fixed up the loco (dummy) that will be stationary at the loading gauge.

Then I taped closed all the track and I started with the finishing around the round house.
Yes Roundhouse as well as the Water Tower is also fitted

Paint the base a earth colour and covered it with fine ballast from Woodland Scenics.
The Ballast for the track is the Medium one also from Woodland Scenics. So the contrast between the two should look good.

Here is some pictures. Enjoy.

Cheers,
Evert  :thumb:

Good Morning All,

Small update from the week and last night.
Finished the balasting infront of the Round house. Only the 2 tracks left under the Gantry Crane.
I think difference between the balast and the yard stones is good.... What do you guys think? Last picture.

I also added a picture with the lights on

Hope you all have a great week ahead.
Cheers and speak again,
Evert

Good Morning All....

So we decided to go away to Hermanus for the weekend  :thumb:
Just to get away from the daily routines and the mad rush.
Sleep late, as late as Janco allowed , went into Town Saturday, just walk around and enjoy the good weather and scenery.

When the wife and child was taking a afternoon nap I built the Signal tower....
Faller Kit, very nice.

Must still add the lights and fit the roof.
Think this is a good position? What do you think.

Cheers,
Evert

Very nice.
Good placing for the signal tower.  :thumb:
One point I want to mention about lights in a signal tower.
We like to have them nicely lit up on our layout, but this actually incorrect.
Think about it, at night when the signal man must look outside to check the points and signals
he will hardly see anything if he is looking from a brightly lit room into darkness.
So the actual switching room should be only very dimly lit.
At most a few weak lights in the switch panels.

Good Point Jörg. Very true, I will keep it in mind when I fit the lights.

Thank you very much.

Good Morning All,

Very small update from my side.
I fitted 3 of the point motors to the points closest to the Roundhouse.

Then I also placed the Factory in position and cut the end piece of track for the Bufferstop and LED.

Hope everybody have a awesome week. Speak again soon.
Cheers.  :thumb:
