Hi all......

Yea bit quiet here. I'm on leave. We decided to take a break from the normal day to day live and go away for a week.
Just relax and do nothing.  ;D

So the Friday evening befor we left I worked a little bit on my layout.
Finished all the track and finished all the feeder wires.

Next will be to put in the main power line, conect it all an test a few locos......

OK, so we are on holiday now....  :thumb:

Wife is reading and little one is sleeping.....

I brought some trainstuff with... the Water Tower and Sanding Tower with Drying House.
So I can also rexal.....

I built the Water Tower, but did not like the white walls, so coloured them cream. Think it looks much better.
Sanding Tower is also built, came out quite nice. Was a complicated structure with lots of small parts.
Drying House is also built. Walls and rusted iron roof came out so cool.

Oh, first picture is my work space here in Hermanus

Cheers, Evert

Hi Evert,

I thought the whole idea of a holiday was to get away from the daily environment and connect with the family ?

Or are you encouraging them to get more sleep so you can spend more time at modelling ?  :stir:

Cheers,
Steve

LOL  Steve.....

Jip of course holiday is family time....
But, if the wife read or colouring in and the little one is sleeping, I will definitely work on my trains  :innocent:
It is the one thing that really relaxes me.....
And, my idea of holiday is getting away from work and the city life.....

Hope you all have a good day and speak again soon.
I'll post some more new pix of the layout soon.
I started with the finishing off of the hills before painting.

Cheers.

Good Morning All,

Here is the latest update again  :)
I did some more landscaping, filling in the foam and smoothing out the hills a bit.

Still have to add some rocks close by the water tower and then also around the base of the castle.

First Pic - Watertower (not fitted yet, just position) with surrounding hills. Will be bush and trees.....
Second Pic - Castle (not fitted either) with road, will cover road with pebble paper. Also bush and trees surround.
Third Pic - Just to show the height of the landscape a bit better.
Fourth Pic - Over view. The container just above the glass in the picture will be where the Saw Mill will be with a small lake. This will also be surrounded with bush and forest.

Here are the pictures.
Enjoy and speak again.
Cheers  :thumb:

Looking good.  :thumb:
Small question, you mention a small lake by the sawmill, are you planning to depict the river in and out of the lake?
Without that the lake could look a bit fake.
My idea would be to have a river from a bit higher up on the mountain feeding a mat around the castle and then running down into the lake at the sawmill. From there then to the rear edge of the layout.
A little waterfall could also be incorporated.
Jut something to think about and give you more work.  >:D

LOL

Thank you Jörg.....
Yea, good idea, but I will first have to find the appropriate Saw Mill (struggling with that) and I want to build the bridge for the back edge of the layout. Going to scratch build a trestle bridge (got the drawing and material list already). Then I can work out where and how the river and lake will flow and look. The Castle already have water around it so that helps.
And yes, definitely a small waterfall  :thumb:

Cheers, Evert

Good Morning All,

Ai, I was sick again :( stomach bug, so not good few days for me, but I'm better again, so that is good.

I did manage to spend some time working on my layout over the weekend, so I made some nice progress.
All the power feeds are in, main bus is also in and connected and I can run trains  :thumb: And it all works very nicely....

Then I also added a few more rocks to the hills around the water tower and at the bottom section of the mountain.
Also filled in all the gaps and painted them. I'm quite happy with it now.

Enjoy the few pix.
Cheers,
Evert Loo
