Hi,
I used the hacksaw a bit more today. ;D
I have cut off the front section now completely.
Also the upper headlight has been removed and filled in.
In the second photo there are two arrows pointing at the extension, I must still figure out
how far to trim those back or do I remove them completely.

I also found some nice small brass valve wheels, so I can now remove
the cast on ones and have separate parts on either side. :thumb:

Hi there,
this project has been standing for a while, but on Sunday I spent some time with this loco again.
Although there are other things to do I decided to give this project some attention.
I had already roughly cut out the buffer beam platform in front.
So now I drilled the holes for the two lanterns, the hand rails for the shunter and the two cuts
where I need to bend the outer sections up, the middle stays flat and must still be shortened.
Photo one shows me holding the buffer beam with the platform on top and the two lanterns in loosely.
Photo two shows the platform drilled and cut.
Now I must make a mandrill of the correct diameter to bent the two end pieces up.
I do not have any accurate measurements for this so guesstimate the dimensions from photos.

Hi there,
a bit of progress was made today.
In the week I had prepared the base for the buffer beam platform as photo one shows.
Today I soldered the base and platform together and then did the two 90° bends as the second photo shows.
Third photo shows me checking the fit of the bend radius. Looks good.

Then all parts where once again cleaned so that the solder can join the parts properly.
Then the buffer beam was soldered to the platform and then the two side parts.
First photo.
Second photo shows everything from underneath, no glue was used, all soldered.

Then I opened up the holes for the lanterns again and loosely fitted them.
This is what it all looks like now.
Enjoy.
I'm quite happy with my work.  :thumb:
P.S. The two sections that are bent up still need to be shortened, I will do this at a later stage when I have worked out the correct
height of this.
