Hi everybody,
no real update here, just playing around with a few ideas.
In my original plan I had a 550 mm radius 30° curve going away from the station to the loco yard.
So now I'm looking at that and thought to myself why not use the Märklin 902 mm radius which would look a lot better.
This only comes in 14° 26' so the angle is just less than half.
Okay, so test set up with one curve. Photo one.
Test set up with two curves. Photo two.
So now to decide which one I will use.
I'll think about this one for a while.

Hi everybody,
just playing with some ideas in my head.
As per previous post which curve and angle to use.
In my design I had a 30° curve which means that the road under the station is more realistic.
First photo, black arrows point to the approximate outline on the road.
If I use the 14° curve this will change the angle for the road way completely.
Second photo, red arrows point to the approximate outline of the road. Black arrows also in the photo as reference.

Got some buildings out the cupboard to get a feel for the possible
towns arrangement.

Town planning.
Good evening everybody,
got out some more buildings tonight and placed them on the layout.
Rearranged a few times.
More ideas, need more buildings.
I definitely need at least one more corner building.
Some feed back please.
Which arrangement do you like best and why.
Yes I have modern and older style buildings, I am trying to mix a bit.
The beige building seems a bit to big.

Some more.
The two cars between the buildings, this will be a street.
Level crossing over the track in the back ground as well.
The house with the black arrow, I definitely think that I need a corner house here.

Good Morning Jörg.....

Mmmmmm, this is quite difficult..... But here are my thoughts......

For the left of the road with the level crossing I think this will work quite nice, I like the look and the flow of the buildings and it looks interesting.
Picture 01.

Then you do the road with the level crossing in the back, will make a very nice scene  :thumb:

Then for the right , I definitely do not like that Yellow coloured building. and yes, I think it is to big also.
The corner, yes, would be good to find a corner building there, will round it off nicely.
So Picture 02 works for me.....

That's my opinion. Oh, sorry...... But that station....... No, I do not like it...... but that is just me......

Cool, enjoy and speak again.
Cheers Evert

Hi Evert,
thank you for your input.
Yes that big yellow building somehow does not fit.
As to the station, I have sentimental value with this station.
When my parents got me my first layout, still in Germany, I was 2 years old for Christmas this layout had no station.
They bought this kit and my mom built it.
I know its under scale, most probably 1:100 or 1:110.
Any HO Loco in front of it the building definitely looks to small.
I am considering to scratch build this station more to scale. With some subtle changes.

Okay I have removed the yellow block, it is a very nice building and I am
sad that it does not fit very well in here.
I have found another building in my cupboard.
Got this S/H many years ago when I bought a complete collection with two boxes of buildings
in various states of disrepair.
This one does not have a roof, but I already have an interesting idea for that as well.
Let me just say if I do use this building it will not just get a plain roof.  ;D
Thoughts, ideas.

Hi Jörg,

Just amazing what you are doing. :thumb:

Just three points too think about. I believe the station you have does not fit in the ensemble. Too Retro.  ;)

You are for sure going to need more multi store houses. What about the back drop depicting more of the town. Just a thought.

Your Big Boy "ist Hammer". Very nice. :thumb:

Coming on nicely.

Until next time

So it looks like my possible choice of station is not very popular.  :-\
As I said in a previous post this building is under scale so I would not use it as is.
My plan is/was to scratch build a station based on this model.
All other stations I currently have are even less suited for this town.
My Faller Bonn station I sold a few years back as it was also under scale.
Will give this some more thought.
