ok, I clicked roco (older) but that is just half the story...

I use ESU ECoS II  along with my Roco MultiMaus and LokMaus systems, and some hacked/diy stuff in between...

This is all used in conjunction with Digitrax Loconet throttle

I will not bore you with details now, but if there is interest, I will happily share...

My working layouts use Digitrax but I've just started a new layout using Hornby's e-link and railmaster because it maybe will attract youngsters into the hobby - they all love computers especially with touch screens. It doesn't really count just yet because nothing's moving at the moment.

BobB, I think you are onto something. Have you seen the Roco/Fleischmann Z21 system yet? A mate here locally has it and a wonderful system it is too. The big up for me? You can use your iPad or iPhone as a throttle.

People slam the Roco stuff a lot.  But I really do think the Roco MultiMaus/Pro/Z21 systems are actually quite good, and a lot simpler than MOST other systems on the market.  And they just get on with the job at hand...   

I was very tempted to get the MultiMaus Pro wireless, then the Z21 was announced, and released... been looking at going that route quite seriouosly...

Having said that, I have the ESU ECoS console, and they have now added  WiFi connectivity (in addition to normal ethernet connectivity) to their software.  A free app is already available for Android devices, and I am busy coding my own version of an android app to control the ECoS.  The intention is to use 1 or 2 cheap 10" android tablets as CTC consoles.  So they will each have an image of the track plan at that area, and have the ability to manipulate the switches via the ECoS.  My android phone is a wireless throttle, and should any friend or visitor want to run a train, he can use his own phone, no need for additional throttles to lie around just in case...
