Hi Ed, you are the winner! :thumb:

The word "duckboard" was created during the early 20th century to describe the boards or slats of wood laid down to provide safe footing for the soldiers of World War I across wet or muddy ground in trenches or camps. The original duckboards didn't always work as intended though.

Used in workshops to ensure the artisans don't get cold feet.

Saw these a lot at caravan parks in the ablution blocks at the showers.

Have a great day guys. It's going to be a cold weekend.

Ciao

Good day dear train friends,

Small update. Wanted to make a fence but a little bit different. You can not have the same one everywhere. 8)

So I made a little jig to drill the holes in the same area of each match "post". I had to make about 70 and had to start up a small production line.

A slant was cut on top of the post so that the rain water can run off.

All the holes were drilled with the Dremel and then painted a dark brown. And that was a mistake.  :D

Hot Tip! First paint and then drill the holes for the wire. I realized that when I wanted to thread the wire through the posts.  :D

I had to open up each hole and there were approx 140 of them.  :)

Once the holes were open again I threaded the wire through the holes. Boy that was fun. Took about 2 hours.  :D

I think the pics will tell the story.

Best regards until next time. :thumb:

And the fence is up.

I still need to paint the wire a darker shade. You can see the shiny copper wire.

I got the copper wire from an old transformer. Works great!

Until next time.  ;)

Good day dear train friends,

New project started!  :thumb:

It was fun building this kit.

Placed it on the layout and found a few challenges.  ;)

It was too dark inside and I knew just putting in 2 globes won't resolve the light issue. Nice space in between the tracks. Hmmmmm.......  ;)

Thats where I want to put a small repair area. This is going to be a fun project. If you can remember the Compressor House project.

I started off with a beam in the middle. No U Beam brass in my stores so I just made one myself out of wood.

Placed three led's on said beam and fitted in the locomotive shed. Love the electronic work.

Lighting still insufficient and made two more beams fitted with "fluorescent" lights on either side and busy painting the inside walls white.

Painting still in progress. Had no white Tamiya to spray and had to use paint brush with unknown make.  :(

I put an angle on the "fluorescent" lights to illuminate the loco and floor area.

My soldering skills were really tested. Nope, no burn marks.

Make-shift spray area on top of the circular saw.

Very neatly done, but please arrange the colors of the mini clamps a bit more uniform.
Now you also need some electric mechanism under the layout so that you can open and close the sheds doors.
