After almost attacking my layout-in-progress with big and sharp m@&ring tools out of frustration with short circuits, I adopted the following approach which I ALWAYS follow whenevr I am doing anything related to track wiring.

I connected a 3v buzzer to a 2x 1.5V AA battery pack, and have wires with crocodile clips which I use to connect to the N and S rails.  If a short occurs when connecting a wire wrong anywhere, the buzzer sounds.

Steve

PS: this is version 2.  Version 1 had a 3V bulb which lit up when a short occurred, which was not much help when you are on your back under the layout and the damn bulb lights up top and can't be seen !   :loco:

PS 2 : make sure there is no power to the track either !

Hi everyone,

I trust everyone had a nice Christmas and I wish you all a great festive season.

Small update. I thought this would interest some. A very good friend showed me a GoPro that would fit on a wagon and just by chance I found the GoPro Hero 4 Session.

It was released in 2015. It had one small scratch at the back of the camera and everything works. The lens is in mint condition.

To get this little cube to "pair" with your smartphone was fun.  :blech:

The information found on the internet was written by geniusses and could not be followed. With the help of my sons they got it going in no time. This electronic stuff is difficult for senior citizens.

Below some pictures of the new toy. This is going to be fun when visiting friends.

If anyone has worked with the GoPro Hero 4 Session camera please contact me for I have some questions.

Those that want a small video clip just send me a Whatsapp.

Take care and happy modelling.

Ciao
