Hello, Hello All.......

Yea, I know...... Another layout...... But I sorted out the space and it is working well, and the wife gave me the go-a-head to get it

A lady contacted us to help sell her late husbands Märklin mini-club collection also including a layout.
I went to have a look and I decided to help her sort it all out.

The rolling stock and Locomotives was sold quite quickly.
The layout, well, I made a offer and the lady accepted.

The layout is extremely dirty and covered in a layer of dust.
Here is some pictures of what it look like when I saw it for the first time.....

So I decided to buy the layout and I got the support from the wife

Johan helped me and we took the layout out from the ladies house in to his bakkie and safely to my house.....

Right..... so now the big work is starting to get the layout fixed up and in a working order.

Before I fitted it in my Train room I gave the layout a proper vacuum outside.....
My dad helped me to fix it to the wall above my N Scale Layout

First thing I started with was to replace the facia.
Then I started to clear off all the old bushes and trees......
I used creatstone to join seem of the facia to the layout so it will form one landscape. Facia was painted green same as my N Scale.

Picture 10, 11 and 12.....
I do not like the brown dead dessert look of the layout, so the idea is to change the landscape to a European look.
I painted the rocks grey then a black wash and then a brown wash.
Landscape is painted brown with the Woodland Scenics ground cover.

Next is Woodland Scenics Static Grass, bushes and some trees.....

I've heard of wall to wall carpets, but this house is going to have wall to wall layouts one of these days.

You have a very understanding wife.

My first thought looking at these photos was is this supposed to be a Karoo style layout.
Have fun with this project.

I added 2mm Static Grass (Woodland Scenics) and next to the track I added 4mm.

Think it looks quite good and it really work for the layout.
I also started to add some bushes.....
I still have to go and buy some trees.....
The ballast for the track will be Woodland Scenics Fine brown......

Good morning All......

Layout update from the Weekend Past......

I decided to start with the Station as well as the Yard.
There is 4 platforms in the station and they are really dirty and quite a lot of parts is missing or broken off.
I look the first one, luckily they are all loose so I can remove them and work on them off the layout

Cleaned it off, taped the roof and spray with silver.
Then I took a dark brown wash and painted the roof as well as the platform. Think it look much better now.

Good Afternoon All,

Another update......
Some more Cleaning have been done.....

Picture 01 - Yard have been cleared and buildings cleaned.
Picture 02 - Original Yard ground coverage.
Picture 03 - Ground cover I applied, soil finely sifted from my garden.
Picture 04 and 05 - Woodland Scenics Static Grass application.
