Small Z Scale Rokuhan Layout
« on: February 21, 2021, 11:03:36 PM »
Good Evening All.

Last year a guy I met via FaceBook asked me if I would be interested in building him a small z scale layout.
He basically want 2 loops and that is it.
I gave him some options with Marklin mini-club track but he decided to go with Rokuhan track as he already have the controllers and some track.
And he like the Rokuhan look as his N Layout is built with Kato Uni-Track.

So he decided on a pre-defined layout and all the parts including some extra items was bought.
He also bought some buildings, Station, Houses, Cathedral, Castle, 2x LocoSheds. Most are brand new, so I have to build

This is going to be quite a BIG Project, so during December 2020 I started with it.

Picture 01 is the bought layout.
Then he wanted a extra siding and the double slip that he received was faulty.
So I added some items and he ordered the parts.
Picture 02, I received everything and I layed it out to get some ideas as to what can and will work.

December Holiday I started the build of the Castle. Have to say, not a bad kit for Kibri.

Castle is basically finished, so I decided to start the build on the layout.
All the track was taken off, and I glued foam in place for the mountain where the Castle will be.
Lots of rocks was casted and everything was built, (tunnel portals I scratch built), painted and greenery was added.
I made it so that the Castle base can be removed if a wagon get stuck or track needs cleaning.

This weekend all the track was permanently layed and glued in place.
Trains was tested and it looks like it is all working

Next step is to get the station built.... That's another big one

Enjoy the pictures and speak again soon.
Cheers, Evert.

Good Evening All......

OK, so I have done quite a bit on the layout since my last post.
Station is built and the lights was fitted.
I have also embedded all the wiring into the base.
Then I worked out where the houses and road will go and that was fitted together with lights.
I also added some more scenery and I also did the base covering for the yard.
Think it is looking quite nice...... I like it.
Currently I'm busy fitting the Facia, Then I can finish the castle and all the way around the layout.
Last BIG job will be to build the Cathedral  Biiiiig Challange !!!!!!

Any Case, enjoy the pictures.
Cheers, Evert.

Good Morning All......

OK, so since my last post I have done quite a bit on the layout.
I fitted and finished the Facia, took almost a week as I was fitting one side per evening, this will be painted dark grey. I also filled in all the gaps between the layout and the Facia.
Then I also extended the road off the layout as the guy bought a level crossing. It is for a straight section, so I had to build the road section from scratch.

I also finished the castle, also took some time as everything have to dry before I could do the next step.

Enjoy the pictures and speak again soon.
Cheers, Evert

I fitted the Castle Perimeter Walls.
Then I mixed Creatstone WoodGlue and water and painted it on the sections to fill it all the imperfections in the plastic joints.
Once dried, it was painted light grey.
Then wait for drying again, I added 2 coats of black wash as well as a redish brown wash only to the walls.
Wait again......  :innocent: Dry brush light brown.....

Have to say, I'm very happy with the outcome and look of the castle
