My new layout design.

Good morning all,
not much to show for the weekend, but I did try out my spacing for the platform lights.
Now my original idea was to have the lights spaced at 30 cm.
Then over the weekend I watched a you tube video about platforms and there the lights
where spaced at 18 cm.
Well I decided to take an old plank and drill some holes.
18, 25 and 30 cm spacing.
Excuse the slightly blurred photos as I did not get out the tripod.
So hand held shots from more or less the same spot for comparison.
First 18, then 25 and last 30 cm spacing.
What do you think is best?

30 is starting to have dark areas inbetween the lights.
18 might end up being to bright, so I think I would go for the 25.

Thanks Evert,
I now spent some time with my tape measure to work out the 25 cm spacing, but
whatever I did it just did not fit nicely.
So I tried some other spacing's and I think 22 cm is going to be the happy medium.
Now I just need to buy more lights.

Good evening all,
so I need some more stairs,but don't have enough from old
kits.
Well then I make my own.
Strip styrene 1.5 mm x 6.3 mm cut into short lengths and glued
together over some old steps.

first set of stairs are done.
Holes also cut between the tracks.

little by little the stairs are taking shape.
First one nearly done now.
Remember every part is individually cut and glued to each other.

Aloha all,
Saturday afternoon update.
The platform steps are nearing completion.
Did a bit every evening.

Then after nearly two months a parcel arrived this week.
I had among other things ordered two rock molds.
Never worked with these yet, but lets give it a try.
So I did a few pours and then started arranging the rocks till I liked it.
Then some more plaster work and this is the result.
Now to let it dry nicely and then we can colour it.

Hi all,
Sunday night update.
Made up and fitted the first light for the steps.
The night time photo does not show it correctly. It does look
at lot better.

Awesome progress Jörg,

The rock molds and word there looks great. I have about 7 different ones, you can borrow them if you want, I have the Woodland Scenics ones.

The stairs also looks great, I like the handrails, people tend to forget the finer details...... Awesome

Sunday night update.
I have completed the stairs.

Next step was to fit them into the layout, align them and glue them in.
Then the tedious work of marking of the platform tops and cutting them out started.
Front platform done already in this photo.
Next one being glued in.
