Hello Jörg......

Oooooo this is starting to look very nice. I like the placement of the buildings. It's not overly cluttered and they all look in place.
Really very nice.....  :thumb:

Cheers, Evert

Thanks Evert.
My Faller Shed is basically built as well now.
This is the spot where I want to use it, a piece of flex track
with a very slight curve and possibly the last section with out center studs
so that the loco will have to push into the siding. Then I will be able to use the loading
platform for road and rail. This shed has no loading platform on the other side.
Will think about this for a few days.

Hi everybody,
a small amount of progress to report on.
I have glued down a cork base for the shed and secured a piece of
flex track at a slight angle.
Made a extra base under the shed as its a bit to low for me.
This has not been secured yet.
Take note of my weathering attempt on the roof of the shed.
This is the first time working with chalks, I scrape some of to get a powder
and then apply with a soft brush.
To secure I spray with matt clear coat.
With dark colors it works okay, but with the light grey that I used on the walls for the cement
between the bricks, this disappears completely.
It looked very nice before the application of the matt clear coat.
Oh well I will have to try something else.

Very Nice Jörg......  :thumb:

Roof looks great..... I have never used chalks before, I use washes......

So for the roof I would use a black wash to get the detail showing and then I would dry-brush some markings like you did.
For the walls, you can take a light grey wash. I normally let it dry for 5 min or so and then wipe the bricks off with a wet clean earbud to get rid of the wash on the bricks.
It does take some of the colour off from between the bricks, but it works for me.
Then everything else I normally just dry-brush.....

Anycase, that is my process and it works for me. The secret is to try and play around until you find something that works for you.

Cheers

Hi Evert,

I have also used washes with varying results.
Wanted to try something new. So bought a few chalks from the art shop next to Brights.

Don't practice on your expensive models, rather try it out on the bonnet of your car.
Okay I'm going to start running now.  :peep:

Aloha,
I trust everybody is enjoying a peaceful and relaxed Easter weekend.
Not much has happened here, but I did cut some wood.
First I made a cardboard template and then cut out and mounted this piece.

Then I got new idea.
New spot for the turntable.
Get it closer to the edge of the layout.
So while listening to a CD of Katie Melua I started to rearrange everything.
This is my initial new idea, placement.
Any comments?
Good or bad.

Hi Jörg,

I like the idea of closer to the edge. More to see, hands are close to move a locomotive when "stuck".

And , you can do more in the roundhouse to tell a greater story.

I like it.  :thumb:

I also like that idea. A roundhouse is a crowd puller / pleaser. So, if more visible, good on ya!  :thumb:
