As I'm going to be doing the lake and river now as well I looked for my boats and other details this weekend and found them.
High and dry for now, but look forward to incorporate these into my water feature.

Having a bit of fun.
Wiking front end loader pushing some big rocks around.  :D

Good Morning.....

That is looking Awesome.....
I prefer the dark rocks, but with some green grass and underbrush and trees, the brown will look very good.

Regards,
Evert

Good morning,  ;)
small update from my side.
Pasted the backdrop on, was quite tricky to get it nice and straight.
First three sections done.

All six sections done. This is what I have so far, will look at options to extend this.

Castle back in place.

Decided to have a little culvert under the train line, busy with the landscaping for this.
Having lots of fun.

Enjoy.  :thumb:

Time flies, nearly a month without an update.  :eek2:
Why????
Well I've been a bit uncertain about the river and different details.
Materials and tools as well.
I have removed all the plaster from the river bed again as I just was not happy with it.
All clean again.

So far I had only 2 different size paint scrappers to shape the still wet plaster with.
On some German video's and magazines I had often seen some very nice small pallet knifes I think they are called.
Well today I found some.  :thumb:

Priced between R. 37 and R. 48 at a little corner Artshop in 12th Boston, right next to Brights.
Nice range of water based craft and hobby paints and paint brushes as well.  :thumb:

Currently I am busy going through all my old train mags for ideas and tips.

Enjoying this very much, as I have ZERO experience building a proper layout.
In the beginning you show the complete plywood sheet covered with cork.
Later on you have the cork only under the rails.

Do you put down plywood, then cork and then the RAIL cork on top of that ?

Just easily confused.  ;D

Hi Kobus,
the sections that will not be seen later when the layout is complete there I just cover the complete piece of plywood with cork.
There where the track will be seen, I use the cork strips, this track will then also be ballasted, rust coloured paint on the rails sides to make it look as real as possible.

That clears it up.  Thank you.
How do you BEVEL the sides...just with a blade or did you build youself a 45 deg sander ?

I am lazy, so I buy the pre cut cork strips at hobby shops.
You can of course cut them yourself with a utility knife.
