Hi voltages and big amps can cause quite a spectacle.
I guess dirty overhead line don't help either.

HI, amazing all the other electronics in the rest of the loko control systems survive those harsh electrical surges and interference.
Just as destructive as lightning.

I see Metro doing some fire works at 2:27...
Hannes - there should be many breakers in the system to protect against this. I do suspect the Metro car had the wire earthed via the carriage and then it was supposed to trip by the substation I would have thought.
