Layout Design / Re: My new layout design.

Jörg.....I'm quite sure a lot has happened since the last post!
Your plans are quite great! I like your idea for shops under the Mainline Overpass. The 'new' or rather, upgraded, London East Overground line is like that.....it looks great!

.....The area between the Station & Turn - table......'my opinion' - excellent for a nice secluded Diesel Servicing area ....I love them Diesels!

BigEd, just for interest.....isn't it better to buy this combination of booster and remote than buying the Zephyr pack. My knowledge on Digitrax isn't worth much  ???

My name Marius, I live in Primrose and recently changed from N to HO having some space available for a bigger layout. I should have probably introduced myself before posting. I love British background and their Diesels!

I'm not really sure how you put in a posting to get replies.....my blog experience isn't up to scratch.

(I would sincerely like to change my forum name, can you help please)

I installed simple red + black house DB Board wiring and where the dropper feeds went down, I removed the insulation and soldered the dropper to only 1 strand of the feed wire. This worked but looked a bit untidy.....what worked for all you gents & ladies out there? Some pics if you got please!

Eisch.....always the BIG  question - What 'equipment' to install on your/my layout ???....In the UK, Europe (and where the yanks live) the folk use systems that we have no knowledge of. So it seems that we S.A Model Railway Nuts use 1 of three, I have no experience with Digitrax which is "probably" mostly used but is very expensive! My 1st Layout had Bachmann E-Z Command module that worked fine ....except for when you select another train's address....sjees, the chozen one is emmediatly at the previous train's speed.....chaos!

Now I'm sure that all of us are biased toward the system that works for you, whichever it is.....share your likes and dislikes please!

Loo,
After your traggedy........what changes did you make? Did you switch from WS - Their Water takes very long to dry and you can only throw so much at a time!
Another question; what technique & material / media... :stir:...did you use for the actual waterfall?

I'm quite sure of it that most of us Model Railway Nuts have somehow applied his or her own 'modus operandi' when it comes to water. However, not everyone favours the modelling of running water or waterfalls.... :loco:... through my experience with my previous Layout I finished my river with success.
Applying layers of 'liquid' works but I use locally available mix that allows me to determine the setting rate, density, colour and ripple effect. This includes the actual waterfall that in most cases turn out to be quite dull, when the liquid hardens. Modelling a rapidly moving river presents the feature of under currents and visible underwater rock with current changes around corners and the likes there of....

Layout Design / Shift from N to HO....
« on: December 09, 2014, 01:29:18 PM »
Space allowed for me to make the change from N-Gauge to HO and for those of us Model Railway Nuts :stir:it  that freak out about awesome scenery, it becomes very rewarding! ;D..... Although my HO Layout is but where my N-Guage Layout was some 2years ago (now sold)...at baseboard layout level, it's already bearing fruit knowing what I can do and what I'm going to do. The 2.4x4.8m Boards (9mm Pine Ply) has the potential of becoming a "busy" layout with Stations, transition tunnels, incline & decline, Wood working Mill, Cement Factory, Container terminal that will include a Shunting Yard with 2 Main lines and Branch lines with some 40 working points (keeping it simple) and later adding signal lights.. :loco:....

Now imagine all the awesome detail that comes with that!   and yes, all running trains will be British! ;)
