Hi all,

Monday update.
After making lots of saw dust I had a good handful of wood strips. First photo.
Second photo shows the first part of the front wall that is now done.

Then I made myself a jig again to assemble the roof frames.
Third photo shows the partially finished first frame.

Then I jumped to the platform again.
I glued a 1.5 mm brass rod to the roof supports and also made small bases.
The brass rods are long enough to go through the layout board and be used as electrical connections.
I plan to make the center gutter from brass channel which will be soldered to these brass rods.
This I will use as my common or negative connection. So all lights will be grounded on this.
Two off the brass rods are slightly shorter and don't quite reach the brass channel, this will be
the positive connection.

Hi all,

first test fit of the roof frame for the roundhouse.
Mark of and cut to length.
First pic.
Completed frame placed is place to check. Needs some fine tuning, but I'm happy with the result.
Now to make seven more.  ::)

Thanks Ed.
In my previous post I had just finished the first of eight roof frames.
I'm happy to say that now seven are completed and I've started on the last one.  :thumb:

Hi all,
final update for the year. 2025 certainly went by quickly.
Lets see what 2026 brings us, on my side modeling there will be a big project arriving from Germany middle January.
Can't wait to have it in my hands and get started.  :thumb: ;D Will get it's own thread.
I'm still waiting for some wall material from Faller for the roundhouse. Should be here soon as well.
In the mean time I've been busy with the platform roof.
Yes those two clocks are illuminated.
I've also spent quite a bit of time weathering my ore wagons, I'm very happy with the result.
All the best for the New Year.

Hi all,
first update for the year.  :howzit:
Have been busy with the platform roof.
All the wood strips have now been glued to the frame.  :thumb:
Here are two photos of how they look from the underside.
I basically cut the strip to size, its 0.8 mm plywood, then I sand the underside with some coarse sandpaper.
Then I use brown and later black chalk dust and rub it into the wood grain with a short stiff brush.

Then I glue it to the frame.
I use super glue for this and do try do do so very sparingly, but sometimes a bit much comes out.  ::)
Hence the shiny spots.

Hi all,
small update on the platform roof.
Lights have been ordered.
Busy trying to make a tar paper imitation on the upper side.
Bit by bit gluing on black paper strips.
Getting there.

Hi all,

some progress has been made. The roof is done, still needs to be weathered.
But unfortunately the roof is a bit high.
I will need to trim the legs back a bit.
Waiting for lights, want to fit those to check for effect.

It does seem a little high, but not overly so. How much will you shave off?

Thinking about 8 to 10 mm.

Anyway in the mean time I'm busy with the roundhouse.
I'm using industrial windows from Auhagen.
I trim the sides down a bit as I'm fitting them into the wall and not like normal
gluing them on from behind.
If you remember from the previous page I am building every wall doubled with a black paper laminated
in between.
First photo shows the window as it comes from Auhagen.
Second photo shows how I've trimmed down the gluing surface.
