I'm busy starting work on the roundhouse now.
Today I started on the first wall, brick sheeting from Faller.
First photo. Marking my cuts.
Second photo. Marking done.
Third photo. Cut out and first two windows cut out as well.

Hi all,
this is very embarrassing that I haven't posted here for so long.
Done little to nothing on the layout, but did spend some very nice hours just letting the trains run.

If you go back to page 106 on this thread I posted a pic of the monitor with camera that I had bought and fitted
to the staging yard.
Well I got four more now and wanted them to be inside the frame.
Checking for fit.
All five fitted, now to wire this all up and fit three more cameras.

Hi all,

everything is connected and working.  :thumb:
I must just mount one camera now, if you look at the left screen you will notice that you can't see any tracks,
it's currently just connected to test, will mount during the week.

Hi all,

mounted the last camera.  :thumb:
Then on Saturday evening I decided to run a few trains.
Suddenly I notice that a train goes through a red signal.  :bueller:
Start checking the system and discover in fitting the camera's and wiring them up I broke another
wire. Repaired that and it's working again.  :thumb:

Currently giving my roundhouse project attention.
I want the walls to have brick detail on the interior as well.
So I was considering to use a sheet inside and outside, practically making every wall twice.
So I made a second and held them together, check if there is still light shinning through the plastic. Yes it still shines through.
Got some black paper and checked again, no light.  :thumb:
So I made a wall sandwich.

Hi all,
a bit of progress again.
I know I'm jumping around, instead of continuing with the roundhouse I've started something else.
Platform roofs.
I made a jig to make the masts.
First photo.
Second photo the finished mast and the last photo temporary on the platform.

What else happened this week?
I got a message that a certain hobby shop was having a sale. Certain items 30% off.
So I decided to invite friend to accompany me and go and have a look.
Didn't come home empty handed.  ;D
With a saving of just over R. 2000.00 I couldn't resit to get another extension set for the VT 11.5
What a sight to watch this cruise over my layout. Very happy with my purchase.
Now I'll have to one day replace the yellow Led's with warm white ones.
Then I'll need about a 150 passengers. ;D

Hi all,

been busy making masts for the platform roofs.
Ten of them.
Decided for now on a spacing of 20 cm and five on each platform.
Temporarily set up with prestic just to get a feel for dimensions.
See how I like it in a few days.

Hi all,

I want to use brass channel to imitate the central gutter.
Then use brass rod on glued to the masts to imitate the down pipes. But these will go right through
the base board and I can then use these to connect power for the lights.
The brass channel I can use as the negative bus bar.
I have a bit of these here so I had a look at the roof framing.
Just lying on loosely to get a feel for it.

Aloha,

small update. I had started making the front wall of the roundhouse, first the outer wall
which I then scored at the back to bend it to the right angles.
When I want to make the inner wall I discovered that I should have done this first and then
the outer one.
Inner one was now to short.  :innocent: O:-)
Then I had a idea, why not cut the inner wall into separate sections for every door and make up
the short fall inside with wood strips that I need anyway for the roof frame.
Cut some wood one the circular saw and tried my idea.
 :thumb:
On the third photo you can see the wood strips.
