Z Scale / Re: New member to say hi.

Good day to all

I have a small request in Z
Any one perhaps have one off these small Z scale locomotives in a cupboard that is up for sale.
Or maybe want to swap for something I might have to similar value in N scale

The loco will find a happy home on my suitcase layout.

Having a day off yesterday I managed to add a lot off scenery to Z module.
Time is running out fast for the October The Great Model Train Expo 2018 and there is still a lot off detail to be added.
Here is some photos off progress.
I guess it will never be completely finished because as I worked on it yesterday I saw all sorts off other things I can do and add.
A small jetty and dirt road must go in from town to lake still.
Also street lights and factory lights must be wired up.
For those who have good eye sight see black cat on church roof.

It is quiet a job to build the Gauntlet track and I saw a one page article in a Model railroad magazine way back describing just what Big Ed said
Two different railroads sharing a bridge.
Ever since then I was fascinated by the concept and eventually took the plunge and built one.

I used two old broken points to start off and after a lot off cutting and gluing got it right and trains were running smoothly through it.
It will be much easier in HO or O for that matter.

It is fun to use on a club day and see members sweat and negotiate the right off way.
I can imagine two real life railroads sharing a bridge and the arguments that might come from it.

Some useless info. I run a Kato TGV full speed through the Gauntlet with out any de-railments.

Gauntlet.

Here is photos off a N gauge half module I build for our club including a photo off a real scene.
it is a Gauntlet that was used in the a case where the railroad had no money for a double bridge or two tracks used one tunnel I believe.
There is no mechanical points or tracks moving and two main lines or in my module case branch line and main line merging to cross a single bridge.
It make for some interesting ruining at the club when ever we use it, club members must be vigilant at the Gauntlet and normally first train to the bridge have right off way.
We had some nice accidents when members got distracted and we had a fine system in place for the person who caused the accident. (Nice clean fun)
I need to re-do the water fall as it doesn't look to me and has been an eye sore.
I was wondering it there were any Gauntlets  in South Africa.
Any one knows?

Hi fellow modellers.

New member forcefully joint. (wink wink) administrator ; ;D very persuasive.
Just a quick overview on my doings as a modeller.

Been in modeling for the best part off 20 years on t.he ramp.....I mean platform, I get funny looks sometime when talking about the hobby to non railroad modellers and obviously they think I model clothing.

I mainly do N gauge and have a large collection off locos and rolling stock collected over the years and belong to a club for a very long time.
But then the Z gauge bug bit me and I like to build small layouts in suitcases or on N gauge modules 1.2m by 900mm.
Also collecting locos and rolling stock as Z is far and few between in South Africa and grab what ever is available.

See some photos on suitcase and module.
I will describe more on a later stage or answer any questions.
