Awesome progress Jörg  ;D

Looking awesome.... As for the castle, I would do a small tunnel. I like that on the scenery and it breaks the flow a bit also.
To me it makes a layout interesting.

Cheers,
Evert

Small update tonight.
Continued with the up ramp to the first bridge.
Must still get a few supports, but the basics are there.

Then came a big moment when I hung in the first bridge.
It fits.
My plan is coming together.

As you will have noticed I like to use threaded rod building my layout.
On the hidden sections I just let the rod and nut sit on top, but on the visible sections I don't want that.
So I made a few fittings which are basically a piece of flat plate with a nut welded to it that can be fitted to the
bottom of the board with 2 small wood screws.
So with one threaded rod I can support 2 layers. Most probably even more.

The more I think about this the greater the possibility that I will try it.
Let see what it looks like when I get to that level.

Good Morning Jörg,

Awesome progress..... and well done on the first bridge  always a good feeling.

I want to have the castle as the highest point on the layout.
Can't make up my mind if I must have a short tunnel under the castle or if I must bring that large curve a bit more forward
to have the trains visible all the way around.

Hi Jorg,

At the risk of being labelled a nitpicker, rivetcounter or whatever, I would think it highly unlikely that a tunnel would run directly under a castle.   The foundations would be immense and the vibration from the rail traffic would likely unsettle the structure.

Hi Steve, no need to run for cover.  ;D
That is the beauty of a forum like this, you can discuss ideas and also get different opinions.
You are quite right, I doubt that a tunnel would be built under a castle.
There is a railway line very close to the original castle in Austria that this model is based on.
Your thought also gives me another idea, if I do run a tunnel under the castle I could always model some dungeons with skeletons for the trains to run through which can then seen by the camera car.  >:D

Hi everyone,
small update from me.
Checking that there is enough clearance for my biggest unit to get over the bridge, I would have preferred a short straight section before the bridge, but the available space dictated that was not to be.

No problems.  :thumb:

Here's a photo with the 180° corner.

Tonight I temporally mounted my controls, this will most likely stay here till I build and complete my main control panel.
I have also already connected the first booster as that will be needed once I start wiring the upper staging yard.

Enjoy.  :thumb:
