Title: V160 double traction
Post by: capeklr on December 13, 2018, 08:50:21 PM
Hallo ladies and gents,
yes I know I've been very quiet and haven't done much on my layout for a while.
But I have also been busy with a project again.
I really like the German V160 later BR 216/8 and all the different derivatives.
I am fortunate to have a few in my collection.  :thumb:
So the idea of having a pair in double traction is very appealing to me.
Selected two loco's and stripped them.
Cleaned and serviced everything.
Worked out how to make a draw bar between the two and how long this needs to be.
First photo are the wires that connect the two machines.
Second photo is the completed draw bar which clips into the original coupler pockets.

The two locos connected with the draw bar and the wires already in the second unit with out decoder.
A small piece of heat shrink tubing around the draw bar through which the wires run makes them
virtually invisible.

As the second unit doesn't have a decoder there is space for some caps.

Successfully tested and in operation.
Looks fantastic with a nice long tanker train. :thumb:
