Dear users
I while I have not posted for a while now I have been busy with other projects.
I present my newest project, to renovate an old wooden coach for travelling in a heritage train!
This coach No 800 was originally a part of the Blue Train (first edition) and later part of the Union Limited.
It has been out of service for many years now, stored on a siding.
Today this wonderful coach is the property of the young CRC Ceres Rail Company (in service since 2014), situated in Ceres by Derick Du Toit at the Golf Estate, more precisely at Demeter railway station (www.ceresrail.co.za).
The Coach was a 12 compartment coach. Due to the fact that not all interior furnishings could be rescued only some of the compartments will be restored.
The other part of the coach will become a small bar and a conference table with comfortable chairs. This part will be air-conditioned with two AC’s, in the original compartments the windows can be opened again.
CRC has enough steam locos,
Class 19D No 3322 “Dominique”;
Class 19D No 3321 “Jessica”;
Class 19B No 1412 “Bailey”
and as a specialty the Class 26 No 3450 “Red Devil”, which will be restored till September 2018!
But the CRC does not have enough coaches. This state has to be changed! I took the sponsorship for this coach, and get the financial base. The chassis with brakes, cables, tubes and the bogies are completely renovated and ready for use. The outside of the body is painted in CRC-red with a white roof. The interior is now under construction. First commitment as a company car will be soon.
Pictures are on my home page under the direct link: https://www.trainmaster48.net/suedafrika/dampfbahnen/mein-eigener-wagen/
Maybe I can welcome some of our members in my coach on a CRC steam ride.
Regards

Dear Friends
Some people have asked, what would cost the interior of a coach how I sponsored him. I had a clarifying conversation today with CRC CEO Derick du Toit. He explained that they cost between 300 and 400 thousand Rand.
A new project, that will be realized till mid of December 2019, is a luxury First Class coach with three compartments with on suite bath. He will also have a launch with a “house bar”, fridge and aircon.
This coach will also be a part of the CRC Heritage Project.
How it works and as a sample how it looks, see https://www.trainmaster48.net/s%C3%BCdafrika/dampfbahnen/mein-eigener-wagen/
I looking forward to people who think like me!
Cheers

I have many times in the past wished I have the money to tackle something like this, but for now I need to get kids through school, etc.
Well done to you, our own Trainmaster! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
