Title: Servo motors
Post by: Steve Smith on August 23, 2016, 07:56:14 AM
Hi guys,

For those who are thinking of using servo motors for turnout control, I found a Chinese wholesaler offering a deal on 10 servo motors for R221, complete with fittings, and free shipping to SA.

Cheers,
Steve

Nice find.  :thumb:
I am using servo's  for my turnouts.
I have ESU servo decoders with their servo's on the layout that I am currently building.
Maybe we should arrange a group buy on these?

I don't mind slow if it's free.  It's when it gets lost that I get mad   Normally it's the SA end where things get misappropriated.... er I mean delayed.

AS for servos for turnout control, that's just awesome.

I have bought the Tower Pro Micro Servos, I am looking for the a method to control them. Where can I get or source these items?

So there are a couple of options.

The first question is how do you want to control them?  Via a DCC system or via "analogue input" (read switch or push button on a panel) or a combination of both?

Then there is the question of do you want to use a commercial option or a DIY option?  The DIY option would require some sort of programming and electronic skill, which isn't for everyone.

I'm currently doing some work on a board that would allow for the analogue input method.  There are still some bugs that need working out.
