Title: Backdrop options for my layout.
Post by: capeklr on July 08, 2016, 05:06:55 PM
I am busy looking at what type of backdrop I want for my layout.
I have about 6 meters of Faller photo backdrop, this is not enough for my layout, but will do for a start.
Some of the tracks on my layout are very close to the backdrop which does make it a bit unrealistic, but I definitely want to use something.
I have bought some Peco painted backdrops just to try out, problem is most are very British country side and buildings which does not fit so well with my German type layout.
Or should I try and paint my own, I am not artist so this might become a mess. >:D\
I have added some photo's of the different backdrops just temporally attached to the wall.
Now start voting. ;)

Good Morning Yörg,

Personally I think the Peco and it already have some river and water in that you can combine with your river.

You said it yourself, the Peco, although nice, does not fit well into the German look.

I voted for the Faller option - just looks more real anyway!

The other option is to go the Photoshop route if you have any skills with the program.  It will allow you to pretty much tailor make the backdrop for the specific scene and will give you an infinite degree of manipulation.

Cheers,
Steve

Yes that would be the ultimate solution.
I have read a thread on www.stummiforum.de where somebody did this, travelled around Germany and took various photo's and then used photoshop or a similar program to adapt the backdrop to his layout. The results where fantastic.
Anybody who wants to sponsor me a trip to Germany?

After seeing it in real life, I have to say that the Faller one will work the best.  :thumb:
Fits in much better and overall just looking better.

Cheers,
Evert
