More like the American way - bigger is better...
-
I wonder how many kilometres of track was used.
Looks like you could loose a train there if you are not careful.
-
You could loose a whole lot more than just a train... >:D

Hmmm, that's a big big big piece of layout.
Let's top that by building a layout down the lenght of the N1! That will teach them Germans :stir:

Sounds like a plan Niel. Perhaps re route it here in Cape Town to the N2 and block some of these damn taxis from using the road. ;D

Wow..? That is some serious layout. And to manage everything that is going on on the layout. It will take some doing. Will be awesome to do something like that. Wow, really awesome.

This is Fre-Mo... it is a German modular concept, same as what we use at the Gauteng Freemo Group (GFG) the americans are also very fond of the FreeMo concept.
it allows free form modules with standard ends to be connected to create incredible layouts, as can be seen in the image above...

I've seen pics from the USA, Ntrak modular. They built a layout so big that they could run coal trains with over 200 trucks.
Looked awesome on the pics, can only imagine what a sight it must have been to see it for real. :thumb:
-
There is also a HO modular system in Germany where one track is 2 rail and the other one 3 rail.
Everybody can run there trains. :thumb:
-
Cape Town Ntrak ran a 165 car train back in 2000 already!
-
I think the biggest Ntrak layout Stateside was over 300 modules! It was huge! They filled an Air force hanger!
